CHAPEL OF THE HOLY SACRIFICE

CHAPEL OF THE HOLY SACRIFICE

UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES CAMPUS, QUEZON CITY, PHILIPPINES
1955

Three factors helped shape the Chapel of the Holy Sacrifice: an unusually forward-thinking client, an almost absurdly low budget, and a young architect's search for an innovative building in response to his client's needs.
The completed building represents three architectural “firsts”: it was the Philippines' first chapel in the round with an altar in the middle, it was the first thin-shell concrete dome in the country, and it was Leandro Locsin Sr's first building commission.
